Executive Director/Enterprise Zone Administrator
In a career spanning 30 years, Paul Borek has accumulated considerable training, experience and accomplishment in economic development, banking and city planning as well as marketing and sales. In his role as Executive Director of DCEDC Paul is responsible for business attraction, expansion, marketing, workforce development, strategic planning, business advocacy and fundraising. He has been instrumental in the development and expansion of several major manufacturing and distribution facilities in DeKalb County as well as the certification and administration of the DeKalb County Enterprise Zone.
Paul has demonstrated strong relationships with the commercial real estate development and brokerage community in northern Illinois. He serves as Deputy Director of the I-39 Corridor Association and Director of the Illinois Development Council, Metropolitan Economic Growth Alliance of Chicago, DeKalb Ogle County Industrial Workforce Consortium, River Valley Workforce Investment Board and Sycamore Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to DCEDC Paul was founding Executive Director of the Sandwich, IL Economic Development Corporation, where he handled start-up incorporation and funding, together with commercial and industrial development. He is a member of the Sycamore Rotary Club.
