5th Annual Heavy Metal Tour

Friday, September 29th,  Workforce Development Coordinator Gene Fogle, will host the DeKalb-Ogle County Workforce Development Consortium’s 5th  Annual Heavy Metal Tour.  Participants will include area youth from DeKalb High School, Sycamore High School, Genoa-Kingston High School and Rochelle Township High School that are interested in the learning about rewarding careers (Industrial Trades) in manufacturing, distribution/logistics, automotive, etc. The participating students from each respective high school are actively involved in the program, led by Fogle.  The students will take tours and learn first-hand about respective trade industries, in the 21st Century.

DCEDC proudly supports workforce development.  The DOWDC, founded 5 years ago, provides opportunities and connections to area high school youth.  Kishwaukee College plays an essential role in educating the youth post high school for their chosen career readiness.  The DeKalb-Ogle Workforce Development Consortium is funded in part, through private donations.  To continue the work of this essential program, we welcome donations to DCEDC in care of the DOWDC.  Donations are tax deductible as DCEDC is non-profit 501c 3 organization.  Please visit our Members Area page, or contact Karen Hoyle at 815-895-2711, or by email at

We wish to thank the following local businesses for providing this hands-on opportunity for our students.  Thank you Target Distribution Center, Auto Meter, IDEAL INDUSTRIES, INC., J6 Polymers, Prescot Ford, Sycamore Precision, H.A. Phillips, and Swenson Products.  We would also like to thank Dr. Laurie Borowicz, President of Kishwaukee College, for having the youth return to the college discussion and a Pizza Luncheon.
