ComEd Press Release 04-16-2020

Economic development partners,

I’m happy to share this press release as it relates to a couple of items.

First, ComEd filed for an $11.5M rate decrease today.  This is our 3rd rate decrease request in a row and 5th in the last nine years.  If/once approved this will decrease the delivery charge portion of customer’s bills beginning in January 2021.  In Illinois, the energy or supply component of the bill for customers purchasing electricity from ComEd is established by the Illinois Power Agency.  ComEd passes this supply cost through to our customers with no additional markup or fees.

Second, recognizing the continued hardship the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have on our residents and businesses, we’ve extended the moratorium for disconnections through at least June 1st, 2020.  Any customer experiencing financial hardship can contact our customer service department to make payment arrangements as needed.  1-800-EDISON1 or 1-800-334-7661.
