Industrial Workforce Coordinator
The Consortium acts on behalf of the DCEDC for Workforce Development in DeKalb County and the great Rochelle area. Through the use of industrial tours, workshops, classroom presentations, mock interviews and campus tours the Consortium exposes students, veterans, career changers and the unemployed to career building and skill enhancement opportunities. The final phase of these interactions results in career launching full-time employment, summer jobs or internships in local companies. In the midst of its fourth year the Consortium has made an impact with area students and employers. Preparing first-time job seekers with “employability skills;” interview preparation techniques, interviewing basics and skills relevant to their chosen path. Local employers enjoy seeing fresh new talent, complete with enthusiasm and new ideas ready to participate in building the “New Economy.”
Gene brings more than forty years of manufacturing management experience to the position. Primarily in the printing industry, Gene was reasonable for starting new manufacturing operations, developing operations for new product lines, working on patentable security features, talent acquisition, as well as re-engineering operations for equity holding companies. With additional experience in plastics manufacturing, fabrication/welding, coaching and education, Gene brings a wide variety of experiences to the Consortium’s program.
Earning a Bachelor of Science degree from York College of Pennsylvania in Business Administration and Marketing, Gene has also earned a variety of credentials in Workplace Safety, OSHA compliance, quality systems, including ISO implementation, Deming training and other leadership training.
