City of DeKalb: (1) Office Associate – PART-Time

JOB DESCRIPTION: The City of DeKalb, Illinois is seeking to fill one position for the part-time Office Associate role. The part-time Office Associate performs a variety of functions with the Administrative Services Division of the Police Department in the areas of customer service, accounting, and the processing and fulfilling of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and subpoena requests. This position will also provide administrative support to all departmental personnel including secretarial, clerical, data entry, and basic research duties as assigned. The Office Associate completes various tasks while working under minimal supervision. Extensive contact with other City employees and the general public is required.

The Office Associate is a part-time, non-exempt position that shall average 15-20 hours per week and at no time may exceed 1,000 hours in a 12-month period.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Supplemental coursework in secretarial or office management desired.
Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to become Law Enforcement Agency Data Systems (LEADS) certified within specified timeframe.

Experience:
One year of administrative/secretarial experience required.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel). Previous experience or the ability to gain proficiency with FOIA, records management system, and enterprise systems required.

WAGE/SALARY:  $20.76/hour

City of DeKalb: (2) Water Service Maintenance – FULL-time

JOB DESCRIPTION: The City of DeKalb, Illinois is seeking to fill two positions for the full-time Water Service Maintenance role. This position will perform general manual work on the water mains, well houses, water treatment plants, buildings and grounds, meter reading and installation, fire hydrants and all other water related maintenance work, and all other public infrastructure work and related duties, as assigned. The Water Service Maintenance position will respond to call outs for scheduled rotations and emergency calls for JULIE locates, water service customer service calls, water distribution repairs and weather-related incidents. This position will also assist operations with snow plowing, leaf collection, street, and storm water repair, etc. as needed.

The Water Service Maintenance role is a full-time position, represented under AFSCME and will work 40 hours per week. This position will include evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call outs as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and a Class B CDL license or the ability to acquire a Class B CDL license within an agreed upon timeframe. Additionally, candidate must have the ability to obtain a tanker endorsement as requested. Prior experience in maintenance on water mains, well houses, water treatment plants, meter reading and installation, fire hydrants, building and grounds, street maintenance, snow removal, sewer maintenance, equipment maintenance, traffic control, airport maintenance, or other related experience preferred.

WAGE/SALARY: The starting hourly rate is $24.97 per hour. Per AFSCME contract, this position will be eligible for a 2.5% increase effective 1/1/2024.

The City of DeKalb is looking to fill a Public Works Maintenance -Facilities position. This position will perform a variety of facilities operations including the maintenance and repair of municipal facilities and public works equipment. This position will also be involved in street operations including maintenance and repair of roads, snow plowing, mowing, leaf collection, and responding to call outs for emergency situations.

This is a full-time position represented under AFSCME and will work 40 hours per week and will require work in the evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call outs as necessary.

Qualifications/Requirements: We require a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and a Class B CDL license or and the ability to acquire a Class B CDL license within an agreed upon timeframe. Prior experience in building maintenance, working with preventive maintenance schedules, and/or diagnosing/ repairing plumbing, HVAC or electrical strongly desired.

Wage/Salary: Starting at $24.97/hour
